In the midst of an acquisition bid by Microsoft it is hard to look forward to the next generation of Yahoo! products. Yahoo! Mail has been around for a long time and has gone through many versions. Starting off with measly storage capacity the big Y! has now removed the cap from its flagship email service. The only top tier internet mail service with unlimited storage capacity. But Yahoo! developers are not resting. At CES 2007 Jerry Yang, one of the founders of Yahoo, presents the upcoming version of Yahoo Mail.

- Developers will be able to access more sections of content rich yahoo web-real estate.
- Platform where IM’s (ed. Instant message), text/SMS, voicemail, email and other communication methods will converge
- Networked connections via all Yahoo! services and some third party open API’s will be automatically discovered
- Messages from higher ranked people in the network are listed higher than other less relevant messages
- Flickr, ebay, evite and other updates of people in the network which might be relevant to the user are displaced next to messages
