Welcome to TechVirgin
TechVirgin is the place where geek-speak is translated to human language for everyone. No need to be afraid of technology anymore. Of course the geek stuff is still found all over the website. The primary goal of TechVirgin is to talk about the latest trends in Web2.0, Open Source, useful applications, free stuff and of course the tech-giants (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and the rest).
Who Writes TechVirgin Articles?
In case you were wondering, who’s this guy writing such an awesome blog? Well you don’t have to wonder anymore. My name is Shamim. Currently I hail from New York (the city). I started off on this planet in Kolkata which is a pretty large, crowded and busy city in India. After a while I moved to NY.
After getting my college degree from NJ I started working in Manhattan, in Times Square actually. I really mean it – I am half a block from the building where the ball drops on the New Year. Going by my full time profession I am a Network Engineer. So I have my hands deep & dirty in anything to do with TCP/IP, Cisco routers, switches and firewalls along with the occasional server. I also have a handful of certifications to show off (CCNA, MCP, some random Dell and Computer Associates certs). In my time off I impart my (little) knowledge on my blog.
My web presence started out on Blogspot when it had just started. Eventually I moved to a self hosted WordPress solution. For the technically inclined – I host at Hostmonster and most web software installs are done using Cpanel Fantastico. Feel free to contact me here.
How Did TechVirgin Begin?
It does not matter what field of Information Technology you work in, friends and family will always ask you questions regarding their computers. From spyware problems to new LCD screens. Questions both easy and difficult are everywhere. It is quite to easy to ask a friend, neighbor or relative a tech question. But what happens when these options are not there.
To answer the tech questions from anyone and everyone TechVirgin was created. You do not have to be a geek to know how to do simple things with your PC, Mac or anything else. This website has been designed to cater to the typical computer user and tech enthusiast. All you have to do is to send me a short note or call me and soon after that all of your technology questions will be answered.
