Creating Your Purple Cow
How do you make someone remember you? Do you tell them a joke, cook for them, give them gum and help them take out their garbage? If only anyone had a simple answer for this question, if only. If this was an easy question then the marketing and brand building industry and specialized teams would become obsolete. Internet marketers and entrepreneurs spend their entire online lives deciphering this golden question. Often without success.

If you think hard enough you will realize that there are several ways to make someone remember you. As long as the prospect or lead remembers anything about your business, your brand or something associated with you, you win! You can pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for leading a successful campaign. Contests, giveaways, prizes help a little. But ultimately it is your personality and the way you portray yourself, your website, your business. Know what makes you unique, consciously understand what separates you from the crowd, in short, realize what makes you, YOU. See your website or product from the eyes of the user or visitor. Ask yourself questions like ‘Why should a visitor look at my website?’ and ‘Would a viewer benefit from reading my content?’ The most important question is … ‘Why should anyone come back to my site?’ If you were in the shoes of the reader, would you come back for a visit the following day or week?
The ultimate goal is to give your visitors something to remember you by. It can be a unique signature, cool logo, original theme and layout, lots of resources to make their lives easier. In essence tell them how you are making this world a better place and fun for all. Once you do that your 20 something RSS readership will grow into hundreds and perhaps thousands. And every one of them will remember you.
